How to Link a Photo to a Costume record
Back

** Follow the same steps for Props, Ensembles, Wigs, Patterns, Uniforms, Equipment and all other database modules which have photos.

Load your photos to the computer

Copy your photos to a folder on the computer.  If you haven't created a folder for your photos yet then it would be best to have it as a subfolder of the Costume Inventory Resources folder.

Note:  If you are copying the photos directly from your camera or phone they will need to be re-sized to a smaller file size.  See the Tutorial on Resizing Photos.

Open an existing Costume Piece Record - or -  add a new one.

Be sure to have the Costume / Props Tag ID entered first.   - The Costume / Props record has to be saved with a minimum of the Tag ID before the Photo can be linked.

Open the Costume Pieces record
Click Load Photo
The buttons for all the images are located on the right side of the image.  For Costumes and Props you can have 6 images per record.

The Photos folder (that has been set up in the Module Utilities (see Utilities Menu) will open. Be sure to have the Thumbnails displayed not the names.
Highlight / Select the photo you want.
Click on the Open button at the bottom of the screen or Double-click the photo.

The photo will appear in the box.

The location (Drive:\Folder\filename will appear in the box below the photo.

Short video of the steps to follow:
1.   To make finding your photos easier - put all the photos in a folder and then update the program to tell it where the photos are:

       *  Open the Utilities Menu
       *  Select "View List of Installed Modules"
       *  Select the Costume Pieces row and enter the path (Drive:\Folder) for the photos.

2 If you want to delete the image - click on the "Delete Photo" button.  It will delete the link to the photo but not the actual photo.

3.  Be sure to have the Costume / Props Tag ID entered first.   - The Costume / Props record has to be saved with a minimum of the Tag ID entered before the Photo can be linked.

4.  Don't move your photos from one folder or drive to another one.  If you move the photos they won't show up in the Costume / Prop record.

5.  If you have the database on a network be sure to store the photos in a "Shared" drive.  See the Resources Guides for Network installation for more help.  If the photos are on a PC (your local computer) then you can see the photos but no one else can.
